Here’s the golden rule of marketing- and it is applicable to increasing your sales on GeM(Government e-Marketplace).
Just because you have a product, does not mean people will buy it. You have to let them KNOW that you exist and over time, convince them that no one else can suit their needs better than you. In other words, just because you’ve listed your products on GeM, does not mean you can expect a flood of orders suddenly.
The biggest tip that I can give you is to be proactive in your market.
That means:
- Sending proposals to prospective government buyers.
- Setting up meetings with them.
- Establishing a relationship with the department.
- Understanding their organization structure.
- Meeting with the key decision makers.
- Following-up continuously
These are all full time tasks for your employees. In fact, just the above 6 steps are enough to engage a 4-5 person marketing team completely for the entire year, including a VP or Director, Marketing from your company.
If you don’t have any experience of doing the above 6 steps, hiring an experienced team is something you should consider- but do ensure you have the right set of people as Government Marketing is an extremely niche skill set- in fact, I consider it to be a grade above B2B Marketing, and not everyone can drive the desired results for your company.
The other route that you could take- and I’m including this here because I completely believe this will bring you value- is to hire us, Kshemin Global. We help businesses enter and establish themselves in the Indian B2G(Business To Government Industry) and offer a full range of services- from helping you in product design to marketing, Business Development, to training your staff.
We make ourselves redundant by the end of our contract period and enable you to take over all our functions and tasks, internally.
